Our team was fortunate to visit Finca Los Cenizos in March this year and we were blown away by the quality of all their coffees.
Finca Los Cenizos is a family-owned and operated coffee farm located in the highlands of Cerro Punta, founded by Estela Pitti in 2008. Finca Los Cenizos was named after the multiple 100-years-old Cenizos trees that reside in the plantation. These strong ash trees not only provide abundant shade for the coffee cherries, but are also home to abundant flora and fauna that coexist with the trees in harmony. The farm is situated at a high elevation of 1,900 masl, which significantly extends the ripening period of the cherries, improving the quality of their development.
Their team comprises of 99% Ngäbe Bugle tribe members, who have been properly trained to work with specialty coffees. Their dedicated team ensures that every year that only seedlings with healthy root systems and disease-free foliage are selected. Furthermore, at high elevations, trees often experience uneven flowering stages. However, the team always ensures to make a few trips and harvest cherries at their ripest. As a result, coffees from Finca Los Cenizos are of the highest quality and always does well at the Best of Panama auctions every year.
This lot 005 washed processed Gesha is one of the most outstanding coffees we purchased from this year’s harvest. This coffee is elegant, delicate and full of florals in both aroma and flavor. It exhibits a sweetness and juiciness reminding us of white peach and red grapes.
